Sony’s next State of Play broadcast is almost here, and with the next few months being packed with new game releases, we’re expecting a beefy session of game trailers and announcements in today’s broadcast. We already know that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be closing out the first half of the show, and it will be followed immediately by a new episode of State of Play Japan hosted by Yuki Kaji.
Beyond that, Sony has teased updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. If you’re interested in watching, you can catch the livestream at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET via this link or the embedded video below.
As always, we’ll be covering the event and everything shown off as it happens. In case you can’t make it, you can check back here for everything shown off from both State of Play broadcasts, so don’t forget to hit your F5 key for regular updates. As mentioned above, the next couple of months have plenty of big games on the way, with the likes of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Control Resonant being the mere tip of the iceberg.
Beyond those 2026 releases, there’s also God of War Laufey in February 2027 and Naughty Dog’s first new game of the PS5 generation, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Could we see more of those games today? There’s only one way to find out.
Resident Evil
And we’re off, not with a game reveal, but with a scene from the live-action Resident Evil movie. Austin Abram’s character, Bryan, has found himself in a seemingly deserted street in Raccoon City, but it’s not long before infected members of the town are literally hurling themselves at him from rooftops–and yes, there’s a LOT of blood. The film is out soon on September 18.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Ahead of its September 15 release, one more trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine was revealed. The main focus here was Bolivar Trask’s mutant-hunting program, which led to the creation of the infamous Sentinel robots.
Ghost of Yotei
Up next was Ghost of Yotei, and fans looking to test their mettle–and their metal–can get ready for a new hardcore survival mode in single-player. You can play as several characters from Ghost of Yotei and Ghost of Tsushima’s protagonist, Jin. It’ll be available starting October 1.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
Monster Hunter Wilds was back in the spotlight, and its upcoming expansion looks massive. Out in 2027, Ascendance adds all-new monsters to hunt, gear to acquire, and new locations to explore.
Metro 2039
The Metro games by 4A Games have always been masterclasses in crafting atmospheric dread, and it looks like Metro 2039 will continue to raise the bar for making you sweat during hostile encounters. The new gameplay on the PS5 Pro was a tense showdown between the game’s protagonist and hostile forces, all set to the tune of a chirping Geiger counter. Mettro 2039 launches on February 4, 2027.
Maneater 2
We’re going to need a bigger boat! Maneater is back, and in case you missed out on the first game that allowed you to unleash your inner Jaws, you can look forward to a new sequel.
Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown
One of the biggest hits of the year, Crimson Desert’s next big DLC was shown off. Charting the Unknown follows Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane as they set out to discover their purpose and shape their futures. It’ll be available starting October 15.
Lego PlayStation
That rumored Lego PlayStation set is real! Based on the iconic console, the set has over 1,900 pieces, is a 1:1 replica, and has multiple diorama scenes inside it.
Final Fantasy Resonance
There sure are a lot of games out this year with a Resonance theme in their title, aren’t there? A new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance showed off more of the HD-2D game in action, including a boss battle against Final Fantasy 7 baddie Sephiroth. I guess no single game can contain the best antagonist in video game history. A demo for Final Fantasy Resonance is also now available.
Gundam: Rogue Orbit
Gundam doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to video games, but could Gundam: Rogue Orbit change all that? The new gameplay trailer for Rogue Orbit certainly looks eye-catching, as you’ll pilot a giant mech against even bigger threats in this action game. The release date was also revealed, and you can expect to step into your Gundam on March 5, 2027.
Hunter’s Moon
And now for something completely new! Hunter’s Moon is a first-person historical folk-horror game, coming to PS5 on October 26.
Uncanyon
Another interesting indie on the horizon, players will explore fantastical lands and mysterious, puzzle-filled ruins in Uncanyon.
Keeper
Now that it’s no longer one of Xbox’s first-party studios, it looks like Double Fine is bringing more of its games to PlayStation. First up is Keeper, its charming adventure starring a sentient, mobile lighthouse on a mission of discovery. It’s available starting today for PS5.
Rev. Noir
It wouldn’t be a State of Play without an action-packed anime-inspired game, and Rev. Noir looks like it fits that bill. This RPG from Konami follows a young boy named Asch on a journey to stop the lightfall, a catastrophe that kills all it touches.
Rhapsody in Scarlet
Another new game from Konami is Rhapsody in Scarlet, a jazzy adventure set in 1920s New York. As the young magus Ellie Myers, it’s up to you to stop a threat that endangers the entire world–and we’re not talking about the proliferation of horrible Jazz music.
PlayStation Plus updates
Mycopunk will be added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers. The PlayStation Classics library is also being updated over the next couple of months, as Mega Man X Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and Ratchet and Clank will be added to it.
