Final Fantasy VII Revelation finally has a release date: April 8, 2027. Square Enix confirmed the news today during the PlayStation State of Play livestream, along with nearly 10 minutes of new footage.

The release date was confirmed via a trailer highlights all eight playable characters in the main party: Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid. We also see gameplay of the team in action, including team-up abilities like Vincent’s Galian Beast form rushing a group of enemies with Red XIII, and Tifa and Yuffie attacking from above with a dive kick/spinning shuriken combo.

From there, FF7 director Naoki Hamaguchi introduced an extended look at raw gameplay, which focused on traveling the massive world map. Invoking the original game’s PlayStation 1 roots, the Highwind flies over the world of Gaia, and players can pilot it wherever they wish. Once they reach a location of interest, they can choose a party from any of the eight playable characters, and then parachute down to the surface instantly.

The demo then dives into a side quest in Gongaga featuring Sotetsu, a character featured in a FF7 Rebirth side quest. Yuffie, knowing Sotetsu from that side quest, has a special interaction with him, implying that some missions may play out differently depending on the characters brought to complete them.

Along with the news of Final Fantasy VII Revelation’s April 8 release date, the Steam page for the game dropped a few hints on what is coming after launch, with listings for story expansions featuring two key characters.
